Harry Kane’s signing with Bayern Munich is criticised by Ralf Rangnick.

Harry Kane was signed by Bayern Munich in August 2023 for €100 million (£85.3 million) without hesitation.

Ralf Rangnick was not persuaded by the transfer of records.  The Austrian head coach voiced doubts about the signing in an interview with the Spanish publication Sport, citing Kane’s age of 29 at the time.  Rangnick believes that rather than shelling out enormous sums of money for football players who are getting close to their thirties, clubs would be better off investing in younger players.  “I would only look to sign and invest in young players if I were the sporting director or club owner.  That is the only reasonable course of action, regardless of how you look at it,” the former Manchester United boss stated.

It’s difficult to overlook Kane’s stats at Bayern.  The England striker has made 93 appearances across all competitions since joining, tallying 83 goals and 26 assists.

Even yet, Rangnick is not persuaded that the move was a wise long-term move.  Rangnick has consistently placed a high priority on nurturing young players since taking over Austria in 2022, with a particular focus on producing a new generation of Austrian talent.  Austria has won 20 of his 36 games as manager, drawn seven, and lost nine, earning him widespread accolades for his efforts.
